Finding Time to Move When Life is Already Full

ree

If there’s one thing I hear over and over from women in their 40s, it’s this: “I just don’t have the time.”

Between family, careers, relationships, errands, and a never-ending to-do list, carving out space for exercise can feel impossible. But here’s the thing: you don’t need hours a day or a military-style schedule to see results. You just need a realistic plan that fits into your actual life.

Here are five ways to make fitness doable (and sustainable) when your plate is already overflowing:

1. Put it on the calendar

If it’s not scheduled, it’s probably not happening. Instead of waiting for “free time” (spoiler: it won’t appear), block off your workouts like any other appointment. Even 30 minutes, three times a week, makes a difference.

2. Use your weekends

Weekends usually come with a little more wiggle room. If you can fit in one or two workouts on Saturday or Sunday, you’ve already lightened the load for your busy weekdays.

3. Protect your workout time

Life happens, and yes—sometimes workouts get bumped. But treat exercise like something important (because it is). If you miss a day, don’t throw in the towel—just reschedule with yourself, the same way you would with a friend.

4. Lean on your people

Don’t keep your goals a secret. Let your partner, kids, or friends know what you’re working toward. Chances are, they’ll cheer you on—or better yet, join you. (My baby girl LOVES working out with me!) And when you can, delegate or shift responsibilities so you have time to move your body without guilt.

5. Show yourself grace

There will be weeks when it all feels like too much. That doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it just means you’re human. Progress comes from consistency over time, not perfection. The key is getting back at it without the self-criticism.

Here’s the bottom line: your health matters, and you can fit fitness into your busy life without turning it into a second full-time job. Small, consistent steps are where the magic happens! ❤️
